Next steps identified for Austrian demo site at co-innovation workshop in Graz

EXCESS partners from the Prospex Institute (PI) designed and facilitated a co-innovation workshop focusing on the EXCESS demo site in the former industrial area of Graz (Austria). In accordance with strict COVID-19 safety key stakeholders involved in the demo site project discussed barriers and opportunities of Positive Energy Buildings (PEBs) and explored concrete next steps for the demonstration site.

EXCESS project partners from the Joanneum Research Institute, BAR, AEE Intec and Thomas Schwarzl IT presented the PEB concept and introduced participants to the concept of block chain trading to be implemented at the demo site.

Apart from ensuring economic and technical viability of the demo site, participants discussed future coordination with the City of Graz and the active engagement of future users of the building as key requirements for a successful development.

The workshop was concluded by a walk through the demo site.

The series of EXCESS co-innovation workshops kicked-off in March 2020 in Hasselt, Belgium. An additional workshop is foreseen to take place in Helsinki, Finland which will take place online at the end of October 2020.
