Joanneum Research Forschungsgesellschaft mbH
JR is one of Austria’s largest non-university research organisations. It is providing a wide range of services: applied research and development for small and medium-sized enterprises is supplemented by custom-designed technical business consulting and vast expertise in interdisciplinary management of complex research contracts at a national and international level. The project will be carried out by the groups “International Climate Policy & Economics”, “Future Energy Systems & Lifestyle” and “Weather & Climate Risk Management” at LIFE - Centre for Climate, Energy & Society.
VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd
VTT is a non-profit limited liability company established by law. Its activities are focused on: knowledge intensive products and services, smart industry and energy systems, and solutions for natural resources and environment. It has vast experience with European projects. Concerning energy efficient buildings, nZEB and Smart Cities, VTT has competences on holistic energy-performance, indoor environment, building and product manufacturing technologies, as well as the development of strategic research agendas. Within the EXCESS project, VTT is the Technical Coordinator. It leads the work on 'PEB concepts, challenges and opportunities' and 'PEB implementation and monitoring'.
CENER National Renewable Energy Centre of Spain
CENER is a technology centre with worldwide recognised prestige, activity and experience. It develops applied research in renewable energies and provides technological support to companies and energy institutions in six areas: wind, solar thermal and photovoltaic energy, biomass, smart and energy efficient buildings and districts, and grid integration of energy. CENER has different infrastructures to test, validate and develop energy related technology, such as Wind Turbine Test Laboratory, Experimental Wind Farm, Biorefinery and Bioenergy Centre, ATENEA Microgrid and Laboratories.

Prospex Institute
The Prospex Institute enables the participation of citizens and stakeholders in societally relevant dialogue and decision-making processes. It engages with top professionals with extensive expertise in engaging broad stakeholder groups, often in multi-cultural and multi-sectorial workshop formats. PI builds its reputation on its unique competences in stakeholder engagement and consultation, and through a wide array of participatory methodologies. In EXCESS, Prospex Institute is designing the overall stakeholder engagement strategy for the project. PI will design and lead the implementation of the co-innovation workshops, the advisory boards and will also help designing the user engagement plans.
Cordium Cvba
Cordium is the result of local initiatives and was founded in 1963. Its main goal is to contribute to the right of residential housing for the needy in the region Alken, Bilzen, Hasselt, Hoeselt and Kortessem. We do this through a variety of properties with an optimal price - performance ratio. In the past 57 years Cordium has built approximately 1800 houses. These houses are for hire for persons with a limited income at a rental price adjusted according to their financial situation.
Andalusian Energy Agency – AEA
The Andalusian Energy Agency is a government-owned entity assigned to the Regional Ministry of Employment, Business and Trade, whose mission is to develop the policies of the Andalusian Regional Government aimed at optimising the energy supply of the region from an economical and environmental point of view. The Agency has been developed as an initiative under the framework of the VI Andalusian Social Agreement as a tool available for the Andalusian social, entrepreneurial and institutional network to promote the sustainable energy development of the region.
TRYCSA
TRYCSA was founded in 1977, specialising in construction, restauration and architectural conservation. It has participated in numerous and complex building construction, restoration and research projects. It works in development of new techniques and materials, in the execution of complete construction works, and mainly in maintenance, restauration and conservation of monuments and singular buildings. TRYCSA's role in EXCESS is to built the demo-building and its facilities in Spain, systems and technological equipment integration of the building, as well as constructive solutions standardisation that improve efficiency and flexibility of the housing units, reducing also construction timings.
ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability
ICLEI is a global network of over 1,750 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development. ICLEI's European secretariat connects its members with peers and an extended partner network, carries their voices to international levels and provides tools to drive local sustainability transitions. Within the EXCESS project, ICLEI Europe will be contributing to the collection and analysis of plus energy building examples across the EU, the assessment of local policies and integration of positive energy building concepts, EXCESS' replication activities, the dissemination & communication strategy and related activities, as well as digital media activities.
CGSoft
CGSoft was founded in 1986 in Athens and its staff consists of highly qualified certified technicians and experienced consultants with a clear understanding of the best technological solutions and best practices. The objective of CGSoft is to provide consultancy services in software design, develop, install, train, and support integrated automation and computerisation solutions to a wide range of customers in Greece and abroad. It undertakes the installation and configuration of its “Thesis” platform products while at the same time it implements special purpose projects covering specialised customer requirements always using cutting-edge technology solutions.
Urb-atelier
Urb-atelier is a multisciplinary urbanism, architecture, design and consulting office based in Valladolid, Spain. They develop sustainable projects, with mixed and integrating uses, through the previous understanding of the values that a community in continuous evolution demands. Urb-atelier also create urban models that induce positive behaviour and pave the way for responsible generations, promoting diversity, coexistence and respect for nature. Moreover, they foster innovation and the use of renewable energies within the framework of the circular economy. Urb-atelier encourages innovative investment and participation structures with the stakeholders selected for each project.
AEE - Institute for Sustainable Technologies
AEE is a non-university research institute and one of the leading European institutes in the field of applied research in three research areas: thermal energy technologies and hybrid systems, building and retrofit as well as industrial processes and energy systems. Within those areas, work covers various topics reaching from component and system development to scientific research accompanying the installation of demonstration systems. In addition, the institute provides know-how transfer within the framework of national and international workshops and conferences. Moreover, it contributes to the training and education of highly qualified specialists through offering positions for dissertations and master theses. It also provides internships for students.
BAR Vermögensverwaltungs GmbH
The BAR Vermögensverwaltsungs GmbH is the owner of the the former industrial Tagger-Werk area in Graz, Austria. In total 19 buildings with various characteristics and purposes were already refurbished to low energy building standard and rented to 60 tenants. BAR is developing a concept for the further development of the area, as well as operating the building complex. Within EXCESS, BAR will be responsible for the Austrian demonstration case. Further contributions to the project will be the development of the refurbishment concepts for the outstanding buildings and the overall energy system of the area. BAR will also bring its experiences with housing types and previous retrofit projects.

Gebwell Oy
Gebwell Ltd is a Finnish company specialised in environmentally friendly heating and cooling solutions. It manufactures and sells equipment designed for connecting buildings to district heating and for utilising ground source heat in heating of buildings. All of our products, heat pumps, district heating substations and accumulator tanks as well as fire hydrant cabinets, are designed and manufactured in Leppävirta, Eastern Finland. Our customers include HVAC and construction industry professionals for whom we offer ready solutions for serving consumers and other property owners.
Basso Building Systems Oy
Basso Building Systems Oy is a construction company that design and build annually about 300 apartments . Basso build up mainly multi store apartment buildings but also small blocks of flats and some individual detached houses at Helsinki area. The turnover of Basso Building Systems Oy has been several years about EUR 30 million. The customers are partly ordinary families in need of home and partly investors who rent apartments.

DualSun
DualSun is a French manufacturer of solar modules. Its modules are designed to reduce the energy consumption of buildings by producing solar heat and electricity. The DualSun patented technology thus allows a double production of energy, electricity and hot water, with one unique solar panel, without changing the size or design of a standard photovoltaic panel.
Thomas Schwarzl IT
Thomas Schwarzl IT combines expertise in full-stack development with blockchain based smart contracting and embedded software engineering. Therefore, TS IT covers the process from sensor based data gathering (electronics, embedded systems) via verifiable, tamper-proof data storage and automated data processing (database, blockchain) to visualization (web-based user interfaces) and data analysis (machine-learning, ai) with feedback to control loops. Recent projects include tamper-proof data processing, IoT systems combined with automatic tamper-proof booking and billing, and control loop with machine-learning and ai based algorithms.
NETxAutomation Software GmbH
NETxAutomation Software GmbH is one of the leading providers of innovative software for building automation. It develops and distributes software for building management and central building control. Its product range consists of reliable server systems, shading control systems, visualisations, energy reporting systems and other components. All products are based on open standards like OPC, KNX, BACnet, Modbus or SNMP. Multiple interfaces and specific modules allow a broad application area. Their software is used by system integrators and electrical engineers in more than 100 countries all over the world, in building automation projects.
