EXCESS Partner wins award for Positive Energy Building façade development

Michael Guumhalter, Scientific Researcher at AEE - Institute for Sustainable Technologies (AEE INTEC), was awarded the ‘Young DECA Award’ at the 2nd Austrian Energy Efficiency Congress taking place on 14 February.

The award, which is presented to scientists under the age of 30 working on energy efficiency topics, was given for the work AEE INTEC and Michael Gumhalter has been doing with EXCESS’ demosite in Graz, on the active façade development. Specifically, for a simulation on thermal building behaviour using Model-Predictive Control to optimize renewable energy use.

The EXCESS Project and especially the work done at the Austrian demo site in Graz was also presented on stage. Michael Gumhalter will also present findings related to active façade development at the upcoming International Sustainable Energy Conference — ISEC 2022 — taking place in Graz on April 5-7, 2022.
